GUARDIANS OF PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Sustainability

At Mahekal Beach Resort, sustainability is not a regulation; it is an act of profound gratitude. As the natural lung of the city, we understand that luxury lacks a soul if it does not honor the earth that sustains it. Our commitment stems from the conviction that we do not own this landscape; we steward it for generations to come, merging ancestral wisdom with present actions to protect the sacred balance between the jungle and the sea.

To care is to belong

Monthly conservation journeys

Twice a month, our team steps away from their daily roles to unite for a single purpose: restoring the purity of our coastline and verdant gardens. During these journeys, the breeze feels lighter, and the resort itself seems somehow grateful. It is a poignant reminder that actions taken from the heart, no matter how small they may seem, sustain what truly matters at this Hotel Playa del Carmen.

Life whispering among the palms

A sanctuary for the species of tomorrow

We are recognized as the ecological heart of the area, a sanctuary where fauna still breathes with freedom. We safeguard over 220 species protected under the NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 regulation, including sacred trees such as Cedar, Granadillo, and White Mangrove.

As you wander our paths, it is common to encounter the curious gaze of a coati, the agile leap of a Yucatan squirrel, or the gentle flight of Melipona bees. At our Playa del Carmen All Inclusive, these creatures are not a spectacle; they are the rightful inhabitants of a space that has chosen to honor them.

From the peninsula to your palate

Honoring the earth before tasting its fruits.

In our kitchen, dining is an act of thanksgiving. Inspired by the Hana tradition (to share and honor), our culinary proposal respects Mayan planting and harvesting rituals. We employ ancestral techniques such as Pib—underground pit cooking—and essential elements like heirloom corn and the molcajete. It is an experience that transcends flavor; it is a tribute to the tastes of Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo that have nourished this land for centuries.
