General
How far is town from Mahekal Beach Resort?
Mahekal Beach Resort is located near downtown Playa del Carmen. Located at 38th St. North and the beach and a short 2 blocks from the famous 5th Avenue (Quinta Avenida). Learn more about our location here.
Is it safe to walk into town?
Playa del Carmen is generally a safe tourist destination welcoming guests from all over the world, however, we advise taking precautions with money, jewelry, cell phones, and other valuables. Please keep in mind that our rooms are equipped with a safety box.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Mahekal offers complimentary fast WiFi service throughout the resort. WiFi is perfect for keeping in touch with your emails, uploading pictures of your vacation, and listening to music.
Is there any loud music near Mahekal?
Mahekal offers a serene and pleasant environment, surrounded by lush and diverse flora. However, it's worth noting that on occasion, the hotel's surroundings may generate some level of noise, including high-volume music, as we are located in the city center and adjacent to restaurants, nightclubs, and beach clubs. Additionally, the hotel is also host to weddings and social events throughout the year, which generate noise during specific areas and hours, carefully managed to avoid any inconvenience to our guests. Are pets allowed at Mahekal Beach Resort?
Yes, we are pet-friendly but limited to small cats and dogs weighing up to 25 pounds with an extra cost. Check our Pet Policy for more information.

Food & Beverage
What Meal Plans does offers Mahekal?
Mahekal offers an All-Inclusive plan, a Modified American Plan (Breakfast & Dinner) were you can exchange dinner for lunch, daily, through our guest services desk, and an Only Room plan. For special packages consult our Reservations.
How much do beverages cost?
At Mahekal we offer a variety of drinks from mocktails (non-alcoholic) to our famous signature Margaritas and our selected wine list. Prices might vary depending on the drink and alcohol (Domestic versus International).
How is the quality of the wine at Mahekal Beach Resort?
Each of the wines we feature at the resort has been carefully selected by the Sommelier to complement the meals and food creations. Our vision is to offer a selection of wines for all tastes. Many are highly rated by Wine Spectator, Robert Parker (RP), and Stephen Tanzer (ST).
Do you offer vegetarian menu options?
Mahekal offers an extensive menu to suit all tastes. If you have a food allergy or dietary restrictions, please inform our Concierge so we can better assist you.
Is dining at Fuego Restaurante y Cantina included in meal plan?
Guests of Mahekal Beach Resort can enjoy Breakfast at Fuego as part of their meal plan (MAP or All-Inclusive). For dinner, menu prices apply for Fuego, however, guests on the meal plan may use a USD 27.00 per person credit and a USD 16.00 credit for children ages 5 to 12; not applicable on beverages, towards the food portion cost of their meal. Please note: The peso conversion of the USD credits may change based on the current exchange rates. As always, dinner can be exchanged for lunch, daily. To exchange dinner for lunch, or to make dinner at Fuego, please see our Concierge. Please note that taxes and gratuities are not included.
Accommodations
What’s the difference between the Ocean View and Ocean View Palapa?
Ocean View Rooms are located on the ground floor. Ocean View Palapa can be an individual ground-floor Bungalow or can be located on the second floor of a 2-floor bungalow, but will always have a Palapa roof. Room location is subject to the hotel's availability and can not be guaranteed before arrival.
Can we reserve a particular room or bed type?
We do our very best to accommodate requests for specific rooms and bedding preferences (Kings or 2 Double Beds). Due to the arrival and departure schedules and room demand, reserving a specific room or bed type is not always possible. Therefore we cannot guarantee a specific room or bedding preference.
Do all of the rooms at Mahekal Beach Resort have a minibar and coffee maker?
All our rooms include a mini bar and coffee maker. Our all-inclusive plan includes all minibar items and gets refilled once a day, for the rest of our meal plans the items are available at extra charge. For the coffee maker in all our meal plans the first coffee pod is included and extra coffee pods are available for an extra charge each. Also, La Residencia, our largest room, has an apartment-size/full-size refrigerator in the kitchen area.
Do the rooms have air conditioning?
All rooms have air conditioners with remote controls. In addition, all rooms have ceiling fans.
Do all rooms have TV?
Staying here, you’ll enjoy a carefree, unplugged escape — our rooms do not feature TVs, though we provide Wi-Fi just in case you need help staying connected and entertained. Our "La Residencia" is the only accommodation at our resort which includes a TV room next to the master bedroom.
Activities
What type of watersports are available at your Playa del Carmen resort?
Playa del Carmen and the surrounding area offer a variety of water sports such as Wave-runners, Paddle Boards, and Jet Ski rentals. For further information contact our Concierge.
Do you have bikes available for rent?
Playa del Carmen is a bike-friendly town and Mahekal has bicycles for our guests. Bikes are complementary as part of the Resort Fee and are subject to availability.
Do you have kid-friendly activities?
Kids will enjoy Ping Pong & Pool Tables at Agave Bar. Children also love the zero-entry of the Itzi Pool and our ceramic painting classes, located on-site near Agave Bar.
Transportation
How do we get to Mahekal Beach Resort from the airport?
We offer an excellent private transfer service that provides clean, comfortable, and secure round-trip and one-way transfers in vans identified with the Mahekal logo. Please contact our Concierge and they will arrange all the details.
Do you recommend renting a car to drive to the hotel?
Once you are at the resort you won't need a car. However, there are many car rental options to choose from at the airport, or we can assist with arranging a rental drop-off at the resort from the Playa del Carmen offices of the rental car companies. Parking is limited at the resort and is only available on the street (with a cost of 0.45 cents per hour). Parking is not secured and is at the renter's risk.
Do you have a Parking lot?
Parking is on public streets and at the risk of whoever wants to use it. Functions with parking meters which are enabled from 10 am to 10 pm ($10 pesos or $0.5 usd per hour approx.), from 10 pm to 10 am street parking is free.

We do offer laundry service through an external service with standard delivery or express service. Please contact our Concierge for more information.
Do you offer babysitting services?
Mahekal offers on-call babysitting services. Reservations can be made through our Concierge.
Does the resort accept cash?
Mahekal Beach Resort accepts cash transactions at the front desk, at any other outlet, such as restaurants, bars, spa, etc only card payment or room charge is accepted; we strongly recommend using the Room Charge option instead. Hence a major credit card and identification are required for check-in.
